EXAMPLE 4.3.1. ESTIMATE THE TILEWORK FOR A WALL

For a 3.0m x 4.00m wall, estimate the tilework if tiles are arranged as follows:
     a. 6" x 6" tiles
     b. 4" x 8" tiles installed vertically
     c. 4" x 8" tiles installed horizontally

a. 6" x 6" tiles

For this case, where tiles carry equal sides, the general formula for determining tile quantity will be adopted.

b. 4" x 8" tiles installed vertically

Taking proportionality:

c. 4" x 8" tiles installed horizontally

In this example, it is noted that when both factors in determining the number of tiles end up as whole numbers, there is no difference between installing tiles vertically or horizontally.
