EXAMPLE 3.4.4. ESTIMATING MASONRY FOR A WALL

Estimate the masonry required to construct a 5-bay wall with a total of 20m length as partially shown. CHB used is 6" and mixture is class B. Concrete proportion uses class A. And plaster mixture is class A at 20mm thickness.

Concrete:

  • Footings and columns: The 5 intervals of wall comprise of 6 sets of footings and columns.
Using the volume method:

  • Wall footings. There are 5 bays or lengths for the whole wall.

Then finally, concrete components for Concrete are:

For gravel, take note that gravel bed is supposed to be added to the volume for the footings and the wall footings.

Masonry:

  • CHB

  • Mortar (using area method)
From table class B with 6" CHB:

  • Plaster
For two faces plastered:

Using area method: class A and 20mm thk.
