EXAMPLE 3.4.3. ESTIMATING WALL FOOTING FOR A SMALL STRUCTURE

Estimate the materials for the wall footing of the small structure. CHB is embedded 2 layers underground and wall footing mixture is class B.



The footing is 1.20m deep and 0.30m thick which would leave 0.90m clear space to the ground surface.  The 2 layers occupied by the CHB before the 0.10m thick wall footing only will occupy 0.50m which is less than the clear space of 0.90m. Thus, the length of the wall footing is the same as the length of the CHB wall. 

One thing to consider is the fact that there is no wall footing required for the entrance door.

For gravel, add the volume of the gravel bed (assume 2 inches thickness) with the volume of the footing:
