A 2m x 3m restroom is to be tiled. 8" x 8" tiles are used for floor and walls. Height of tiles on walls is 1.50m. Estimate the materials needed.

Tiles: Using equal-sided tiles, the general formula for taking the quantity will be used.

$Area_{floor}=2m\left ( 3m \right )=6m^{2}$
$Area_{walls}=2\left [ 2m\left ( 1.50m \right ) \right ]+2\left [ 3m\left ( 1.50m \right ) \right ]=15m^{2}$

$Area_{total}=6m^{2}+15m^{2}=21m^{2}$

$Tiles=\frac{21m^{2}}{0.20m\left ( 0.20m \right )}={\color{Red} \mathbf{525pcs}}$

Tile trim: Tile trim is installed at the terminal end of the tiles (1.50m height).

$Perimeter_{wall}=2\left ( 2m \right )+2\left ( 3m \right )=10m$

Thus use 2pcs of Tile Trim x 6.0m

Mortar and Joint Filler:

$Cementmortar=0.086\frac{bag}{m^{2}}\left ( 21m^{2} \right )={\color{Red} \mathbf{1.806bags}}$

$Jointfiller=0.50\frac{kg}{m^{2}}\left ( 21m^{2} \right )={\color{Red} \mathbf{10.50bags}}$
