EXAMPLE 7.0.3. APPLICATION OF EQUILIBRIUM OF CONCURRENT COPLANAR FORCES

Wrecked cars can have their frames straightened by a device shown. Determine the tensile force for segments AB and BC if the hydraulic cylinder BD exerts 3.5 kN on point B as shown.
The FBD for this system is as shown. Without any given angles for the inclination of the forces, use the dimensions to determine the slope of these forces.


By taking the equilibrium of the vertical forces, you can determine force BC.
