EXAMPLE 6.1.5. HEAD LOSS USING DARCY WEISBACH FORMULA

Determine the friction factor for a horizontal pipe of 300mm diameter if the flow rate is 200 liters/sec along a 200m length. The pressure difference between the end points is 320mm Hg.

              

Considering discharge instead of velocity head:

             


Using Bernoulli's equation analysis, a horizontal pipe has head lost which is equal to the difference in pressure heads.
