EXAMPLE 6.1.4. HEAD LOSS USING DARCY WEISBACH FORMULA

Determine the discharge of water through a 50mm wrought iron pipe if the frictional loss is 75 kPa per 50m of pipe.


              

Considering discharge instead of velocity;

             


Again, this example requires discharge which depends on velocity in which, the friction factor f depends as well.

Assume value of f. Considering the diameter of 2 inches, the range of f from the table is 0.036 to 0.022. Say we take the average 0.03.
